Best Blood Thinner - Eliquis, Xarelto or something else?

I’m asking on behalf of my mother as she is currently taking Xarelto. However, when I asked AI which is better, it appears that Eliquis may be the better choice. Any healthcare professionals care to comment on this topic? @DrFraser

My mother is diabetic and has had a heart attack, stroke, and atrial fibrillation. All of these are now controlled with medication,s and her atrial fibrillation is no longer noticeable.

Eliquis is both safer and more effective. Anytime I start someone on a Factor Xa inhibitor for DVT/PE/Atrial Fibrillation, unless there is some special situation, it’ll be Eliquis. It’s not a massive difference, but I always try to give the best agent based on current data to my patients.
