I think it was in a podcast by Peter Attia where I heard that the compounded forms of Rapamycin were not absorbed as well as the version from the drug company. Anyone familar with this concern?
Thx
Discussed here New Peter Attia interview w/Matt Kaeberlein, inferior bioavailability of encapsulated rapa
And here Bioavailability of Rapamycin From Compounding Pharmacy
If you’re still interested… I confirmed Peter Attia’s remarks by comparing peak levels of conventional Rapa (about 1.6-1.8 ng/mL) to my compounded form (zip!). My pharmacy (shout out to Peninsula Pharmacy in Long Beach, WA) supplied me an “Acid Resistant” form to test… also zip. But I was pretty sure it was having some effect so I asked them to double my usual dose, from 6 mg to 12 mg, keeping the AR formulation. Peak level 2.6! So THANK you Peter Attia for publicizing the issue and to my creative pharmacist for coming up with an effective tweak!
Just curious, did they put the Rapa in an Acid Armor capsule?
