Right on Agetron! You’re really set when it comes to the pharmaceuticals! :hugs: Your doctor must have been really progressive by the time. Proactive finasteride medication seem like the future to me.

So you didn’t experience any unwanted side effect from the finasteride? Sexual drive, gym performance and sense of well-being remained good? Did you start of at a lower dose?

I thought I would put up a photo which I think in the middle of the image shows a vellus hair turning terminal (pigmented) as you can see there are quite a few vellus hairs, some have turned terminal, but because of the miniaturisation of the hair follicle they are quite fine hairs.

In September I have some changes planned which may accelerate the process.

For people interested in this issue I think the anagen process of hair growth has been extended more generally.

I found this video (from the European Society for Dermatological Research) particularly interesting on questions of AGA

Really no issues at all 3 decades…libido great… still is. Proof is there every morning. Lol.

And, kept my hair. And, no prostate problems… urine stream… could put out a small fire. Can hold it all day and night. Then, I pee like an Austin Powers movie for 5 minutes… hahaha.

I am too familiar with guys my age (60’s +) having all kinds of issues. My father-in-laws prostate is a never ending saga. Don’t want that!

Tadalafil great too. :+1:

Nothing in their ā€œCore Boostā€ that I am not already taking, except for the NMN. For NMN I use other known NAD+ boosters.

At least it’s not that weirdo who is draining his son’s blood like a vampire.

Fantastic, lad to hear that it’s been working so well for you!

Will probably start a super low dose soon, and build up towards 5 mg as I age. My grandpa had much issues, and my father is starting to suffer right now… so guess it’s just a matter of time, unless I follow your example. :hugs:

I would not be surprised if finasteride was one of those things where some people’s genes mean that it does not cause bad side effects. It is clear that some people get side effects. However, you won’t know unless you try it. Not that I intend to.

The side effect profile is vastly overblown on the internet because it is an emotional topic like with statins and the covid vaccine. The studies indicate a roughly 2% chance of getting side effects above placebo and due to finasteride’s short half life they do resolve themselves within a few days/weeks upon cessation.
Finasteride is probably my favourite medication because it produces visible results in a reasonable time frame.

I wish I could use finasteride, but I am one of those unfortunate people who are affected pretty seriously. Killed libido, nearly total ED, very serious depression. I really really wanted to take it for the hair effects because it did work for me in growing back hair. But I just couldn’t continue.

Exactly, we all have different phenotypes, and some of us do very well with the medication and some do not.

For instance, I’m the universal donor type O+ blood. We were not expected to have COVID very badly compared to other blood types.

Effects of rapamycin and other supplements mentioned can be large or nominal. I can’t do Metformin… diarrhea… lack of energy.

Acarbose… no problems.

Diets too… I thrive on red meat… and whole milk… almost eat daily… others thrive on vegan heavy diets. So go figure.

Matt Kaeberlein and Peter Attia confirm there is not a perfect nutritional diet… one size fits all. They both say protein (and the best for amino acids is real meat) is not high enough in most peoples diets. And, because you don’t digest it as well… you need even more, the older you get.

Try lower doses. Even 0.1mg seems to work to at least slow down hairloss. Alternatively you could try dutasteride which some people seem to tolerate better than finasteride.
