I have seen a steady decline in my “Protein Total” in the last few years. My liver and kidney functions appear to be normal, though my BUN is slightly high.
My doctor, who specializes in gerontology, seems unconcerned.
I get a mixed bag from AI queries, so my best guess is that I don’t absorb protein as well as I used to. That is why I keep on a protein-heavy diet, but don’t actually consume more than about 1 g/kg on most days.
Quest:
What is Total Protein?
Total protein has two main components—albumin and globulin. The body’s protein is derived from ingested food and therefore is influenced by the quality of diet, as well as by liver and kidney function.
Quest:
BUN/CREATININE RATIO
SEE NOTE:
Reference Range: 6-22 (calc)
Not Reported: BUN and Creatinine are within
reference range.
Any thoughts from our medical members would be appreciated.
My total protein measurement last week was in the low normal.
Quest:
So, depending on how I phrased the query, AIs produced mixed results.
Quest mentions quality of diet. I get my protein from eggs, chicken, and beef mainly.
Agetron, unfortunately, beyond the nutritional value, I have an individual issue with eggs and food in general, that is, I feel satiated very early and eggs fill me up sometimes excessively. Breakfast with eggs would kill me. Sounds weird, but it is true.
I had to look it up, never heard about it previously, but I knew that cannabinoids can be powerful appetite-enhancers. It’s not for sale here in Italy, probably it’s even illegal, unfortunately.
Las Vegas has many great cannabis dispenseries. You can buy any form or strength.
So, when it became legal, I tried many forms, from gummies to pot. For some reason I am almost a non-responder. I did not like the effects of any form. I tried CBD oils, etc., to counter the effects of old age, like joint pain.
Only rapamycin has produced the results I desired; after a few months of taking rapamycin at relatively high doses, I am essentially pain-free.
