The less frequent high dosing (once every month or every other month) is a quite unexplored area. It could be the right way to go but currently the positive effects that I personally experience from 6mg once weekly is something I don’t want to risk to loss. It will be very interesting to see how it holds long term.
That is a sensible view to hold. What is useful about this forum is that people try different approaches and share the outcomes.
It is hard when using multiple interventions to identify what causes a particular outcome to occur.
However, over time with enough people reporting individual circumstances it becomes easier to work out the range of possibilities.
@John_Hemming @Krister_Kauppi interesting discussion. Given the vast uncertainty involved here I operate under a philosophy that the body is a magnificent machine designed / evolved to operate efficiently on many levels as long as it can cycle between stress (signal for what is needed) and recovery and adaptation (with sufficient resources) to remake itself into what is needed for the current situation. Choose well in signaling to the body what is needed. I choose strong, energetic (mind and body), and barely enough resources available on average (sometimes too much and sometimes too little).
The sweetspot theory of aging: too much or too little for too long will make your life too short. But the pushing of the boundaries at both extremes is the key…the extremes create the signal for the body to adapt into having capacity for resilience and metabolic flexibility.
Walking 10k steps everyday is good but exercising to exhaustion periodically is where the real benefit is gained. Eating just the right amount of calories or protein or omega 3 is good, but not having enough periodically is better.
I’m using Rapa to force mTOR lower here and there to let my body use more of its autophagy program that I also try to signal with resource shortages (less resources and more use of resources). Rapa is not the way to health and longevity but it is a useful tool.
I have moved away from using many concurrent non food chemical supplements. The short term benefit of a chemical has to outweigh the long term risks or uncertainties.
What am I missing?
Great project Krister,
Thank you for all you do.
