Telmisartan was expensive years ago. It is cheap now, because its patent expired in January 2020. The 40 mg is $22 for 90 tabs at Costco.

But what if you don’t have hypertension? Taking a hypertension drug could be dangerous to those running normal BP.

I’ve been taking Losartan for some years. I recently had to reduce my dose though - I was getting occasional (2-3 times a year) extreme blood pressure drops (65/35, one time). I’ll probably need to take some additional med since Losartan alone isn’t quite doing it.
In my digging, it seems like many BP meds, while they technically reduce blood pressure, actually increase risk of death (!). Hydrochlorothiazide was one and I refused to take it. And I had a horrible response to Amlodipine - terrible central sleep apnea (I’d just stop breathing in my sleep - ugh).
If anyone is aware of a BP med compatible with longevity/anti-aging, I’d welcome the suggestion - my Dr is pretty chill about prescribing whatever I ask for.
