Ok, let’s not conflate a nasty prescription drug like gabapentin with OTC gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).
We take (orally) a small dose, about 3mg, of THC oil very evening around 8pm, really helps with sleep but not enough to get “high”, just a bit mellow. different people have different tolerance levels of THC, mine is quite high LoL!
And who knows, THC might even be a longevity drug at low doses… while chronic high doses appear to be detrimental.
Thank you for the pointer, I find 3-4 mg of THC is the sweet spot, Made my day to learn from this study that THC might be neuro protective!
I have the same issues with staying asleep. I used to wake up 3-5x per night. I’ve tried most everything - but the most effective has been 100mg pregabalin before bed. It means I only wake up 1x per night on average - a big improvement.
Where do you guys get it from? I also had found a while back that (marijuana) was great at making me sleepy. The only thing that ever worked for me (when I was having sleep problems). Two-three puffs and in 5 minutes I’d be dead asleep. I still have plenty left but hate the smell and aftertaste though, and never tried THC alone. Would like to give it a try.
I find beta sitosterol and astragalus 2 hr before bed help me
Also take 250mg berberine before
If I wake at night I find it’s easy to fall back to sleep
Also mouth taping been a game changer
However what works for one person may not work for everyone

Have recently purchased online from Cannabis Pharmacy. But there are many other good vendors now that recreational is legal. The gummies usually contain a ix of CBD and THC.
I think that trazadone is the most helpful.

Fot me simple “box breathing” helps to get back to sleep. Breathe in rather deeply for about four seconds, hold breath for four seconds, breathe out for four seconds, hold breath again for four seconds, start the cycle again and go on until falling asleep. Can expand to five, six or more seconds. The first few cycles nothing happens then all is blank.
Cut out alcohol? 30 years of waking at 3-4 ended within weeks of cutting alcohol from my life. Accidentally discovered this when I was put on a antibiotic that had an intolerance for alcohol
As I am now 16 years post alcohol I also carefully watch sugar intake and caffeine intake after 3-4pm.
I supplement with magnesium Glycate before bed.
I am now 60 and depend on a good sleep after having a TBI 3 years ago. A good sleep routine in probably one of the most effective health benefits one can practice IMO.
PS. no judgement for those that drink- it was just a no brainer for me to ditch insomnia and belly fat.
Melatonin does it for me 3-8 mg…also a grounding mat.
Binaural beats work when I can’t sleep.
Also the sleep routine used by special armed forces works well…it takes quite a few tries, but worth learning…but I can’t imagine being in a canoe. Google it !
Good luck !
I take the liquid Claritin, children’s dose a couple hours before bed and sleep great. Box breathing is great for Getting back to sleep if you wake up.
There was a now deleted post about me passing out when doing the breathing exercise. Of course I don´t. After some cycles I just drop off to sleep. Last night I woke up four times with muscle cramps after intensive resistance training. I used to need an hour to get back to sleep. Now I get back in minutes and got my 7 hours of sleep. Amazing that such a simple exercise can do this.
Trazadone 50mg at bedtime. I normally have no trouble falling asleep but will wake up alert as hell 2 hrs later. Trazadone solves that. I might miss a dose every 3-6 months, and sure enough, I awaken after 2 hrs of sleep. Consistent with my age and being male, I have nocturia but immediately fall asleep after going to the bathroom when I have taken my trazadone at bedtime.
Do you ever consider that exercising in a way that makes you wake up 4 times at night (in pain), my not be in your best interest health wise, and definitely NOT in your best interest for longevity. Just saying.
Sometimes really vigorous exercise can result in cramps or other transitory pain. I think it needs to be viewed in context.
Now if it happens regularly, its possibly over training or some kind of physiological imbalance.
Chris Masterjohn in his master class subscription group; gave a talk on table salt is a precurser for some enzyme that holds off urine creation at night. After adding 1/4t salt at bedtime I now make it to 4am to pee.
My pre bedtime stack is like above; Mg, Glicine, Gaba, P5P, Tryptophan. I used to do melatonine but have found I don’t benefit with this stack adding melatonin.
good luck, curt
