Huberman Knocks Rapamycin for Longevity

People on here were recently discussing a video in which Peter Attia said he had stopped taking rapamycin and speculating about why he might have said that.

Here is something from a Huberman Lab podcast that caught my attention.

Fajgenbaum: Rapamycin at the dose of a transplant dose. I take rapamycin at the same dose that a kidney transplant patient would take. It’s a lot higher than the typical longevity dosing that people do.

Huberman: My dose of rapamycin for longevity is zero.

Fajgenbaum: Zero.

Huberman: Yeah, I’m not a fan. We could talk about that a little later.

Huberman is not a fan of rapa. So what. I’m not a fan of Huberman, also “so what”. Until at the very least he gives some grounds for his position, there is no value in knowing his opinions. Everyone has an opinion including me and you, but until we cite evidence, there’s nothing to discuss.

Huberman is barely an expert on anything. I know it sounds ridiculous to say that about a Stanford professor, but his ignorance and willingness to believe outrageous things means you can’t really trust anything he says IMO.

It was actually a very interesting episode with a guest who has an incredible story. In short, he was nearly dead and then convinced his doctor to prescribe sirolimus, and it was a successful treatment. He has devoted his career to repurposing approved drugs to conditions they aren’t labeled for.

Huberman is an anti-signal. That’s good news for rapamycin.
