Honokiol SIRT3 activator?

Dear All,

I am wondering if anyone has tried Honokiol, there was a very promising report related to some small molecules based/derived from it?

Innovative therapies revive a once-undruggable mitochondrial aging regulator through a revolutionary enzyme activation mechanism.

Researchers at CCM Biosciences, Inc. have leveraged a novel biophysical mechanism of enzyme activation to discover and characterize groundbreaking enzyme activators for a previously untargetable master regulator of cellular energy production.

Recently, a team of scientists at CCM Biosciences and its affiliated R&D center Chakrabarti Advanced Technology expanded the scope of enzyme activation beyond allosteric modulation by introducing new physical principles for enzyme activation and successfully applied computational and experimental design methods based on these principles to identify new compounds that dramatically enhance the activity of previously undruggable enzyme Sirtuin-3 (SIRT3), which is centrally involved in regulating human aging. This study was published in Physical Review X , the flagship journal of the American Physical Society (APS), on October 22, 2024.

It seems very early in the research (this specific research), and this is from a company, so I take it with a grain of salt until its repeated by some independent labs.

I think SIRT6 is showing much more potential.

One experimenter… just started today. One can never have thick enough hair in my opinion.

I bought Honokiol Pure Pro Liposomal capsules.
60 in a bottle 4 mg per capsule a few weeks ago. Too busy to make a solution.

Based on the mice experiments… I decided to cut open the 15 capsules (60 mg) and put in 5% Minoxidil hair solution 2 fluid ounces - mouse experiments used saline. I wanted a better kick in my tonic.

From the trial: Lip-Honokiol (> 98% purity) was provided by Chengdu Jinrui Biotechnology Company (Chengdu, China), and 0.9% saline was provided by Beijing Tiantan Hospital (Beijing, China). For the in vivo experiment, Lip-honokiol was prepared at the concentration of 20 mg/ml by dissolving in 0.9% saline.

My adjustments – shook it up and put on a couple eye droppers worth to wet the scalp good. Then gently derma rollered the solution into my scalp. Only using it on my crown… as the rest of my hair is thick.

Will report results in a month.

You might find this interesting: “honokiol was identified as an inhibitor of aromatase, with a half-maximal inhibitory concentration (IC(50)) of about 50 μM. In addition, honokiol was shown to be an inhibitor of 5-alpha-reductase type 1, with an IC(50) of about 75 μM. Taken together, these data indicate that honokiol modulates testosterone levels, and its structure has the potential to serve as a lead for future designs of highly selective inhibitors of 5-alpha-reductase type 1.” https://www.researchgate.net/publication/232226355_Modulating_testosterone_pathway_A_new_strategy_to_tackle_male_skin_aging

I sponsored an Ora Biomedical lifespan test of honokiol a few days ago. Just discovered this. Very interesting.
