When I see a DNA testing company I’m not familiar with, first thing I ask is collection method, blood is the gold standard for epigenetic testing, cheek swabs and saliva samples not so much.
Then I ask for lab certifications.

150mg per vial, and since it’s a kit, that’s 10 vials total. Hence 1500mg total.
I know nothing about peptide injections. Are there any issues with drawing out 20mg per day from the 150mg vial (so, using the 150mg vial over a period of 7 days)? or 10mg/day for 15 days?
You put bacteriostatic water in and you can draw out as much as you want at any time. For most peptides up to 30 days has zero issues.

Agreed. This has been happening more and more lately with group buys this year, to the point of being normalized. Make sure you read the fine print when interacting with any group buy.

Testing will be included. The vendor has guarantees should testing fall below a threshold for mass or purity.
The reason that is given for hiding vendor name is so that people don’t go around the GBO and try to order themselves, or so that the vendor only deals with one person for communication, and if test results are not satisfactory.
There is a lot of hype about SS 31 for good reason. BUT… SS 31 only does one thing, repair the mito membrane by improving cardiolipin stability. SS 31 can’t fix what is not broken. It’s not a “booster” of downstream benefits that cannot exist without a functional mitochondria.
All the claimed benefits are downstream of the repair. SS 31 is not providing those benefits.
What does that mean in practical terms?
It’s like a gate, when the membrane is functional the benefits flow through that gate. When the membrane is not fully functional (there are degrees of function) the benefits do not flow as they should. i.e low energy, poor ATP production, increased inflammation, increased ROS. Fix the gate and the benefits of a healthy mito return.
All the “benefits” claimed for SS 31 are “downstream” effects. SS 31 does not create these benefits. This means that your normal healthy mitos are already providing those exact downstream benefits. Without any help from SS 31.
Typically not all mitos would have this defect (unless you have Barths), and the defect would be in “degrees” some partially dysfunctional some more dysfunctional than others. More of the mitos will be functional than non-functional in a healthy human. If you are already doing things that support your mitos (I do a lot of things to support my mitos) the benefits would be minimal. But it is important to fix the membrane in mitos with the defect so it does not replicate when new mitos are formed.
This is why there is no benefit at all from SS 31 for young (under 30) healthy people. Their mitos are all fully functional.
For normal healthy people, the benefit of SS 31 will be minimal but as we age this cardiolipin issue increases, probably not in all your mitos, who knows what percent of mitos in which population/demographic experience this specific issue.
So I do high dose cycles every 3 months, 10mg per day for 10 days = 100mg
Doses below 4mg have zero clinical evidence of benefit for mitos, so instead of doing a long term expensive experiment, I follow the higher dose that is proven to do what SS 31 can repair.

I am not a fan of the NAD boosters. There may be people they help, but I don’t see them as a tool to improve mitochondrial quality even if they might temporarily improve some function for some people.
I just came across this thread and wanted to share my improvements with SS31. I do have proven mitochondrial DNA damage on biopsy so my case may not be applicable to others.
I notice improvements that scale with dosage and am currently on 16mg/day with a goal to titrate to the full 40mg/day. Others have speculated that the higher dose is only needed in Barth Syndrome but that’s not how the dose was calculated. In phase I trials, patients were given it via IV and plasma levels were measured. Those that received 0.25mg/kg for 2 hours for a total of 0.5mg/kg reached steady state plasma levels. That was converted to subcutaneous dosing via its known pharmacokinetics and that is how they came across the 40mg dose.
For me I have a reduction in heart rate, improvement in HRV and increased deep sleep time since being on SS31. I have had no increase in my pitiful low step count but that may change as I titrate up to the maximum dosage of 40mg/day.
As for sourcing why does everyone buy these kits from resellers? I buy directly from Chinese lab around $250/gram and typically in a group buy with others so we test it. Seems the purity is always high (99%) but the peptide content is always between 70 - 80% and the rest is the salt. So in order to get to the 40mg of active drug per day one will have to inject 50mg from Chinese sellers. The labs are not a secret as I have seen one of them mentioned in this thread already.
Anyways is there anyone else here who has seen such great improvements from this peptide? Also does anyone know of any other peptides or drugs I should try to help reduce my high mtDNA deletion?

Welcome to the forums, and thanks for sharing. Can you tell us how long you’ve been taking SS-31? What doses have you used and for how long (what has been your dosing protocol during the entire time you’ve used it?). Are you working with a doctor on this, or just biohacking?
I have a mitochondrial geneticist I see but it is not prescribed by them. I was open with them and telling them I am sourcing this myself and they seemed okay with that since they have no treatment options besides vitamins to prescribe.
I previously took this when I first got diagnosed a few years ago but didn’t stick it. Since resuming I have been on it for about 3 weeks now. I started at 1mg and have been increasing by .8 - 1.6mg per day. Over the three week period my resting heart rate is lower by 3 bpm, my HRV is up by 4ms and my deep sleep is up by 20%. My step count is still under 1000 steps a day due to my disease severity. These are not dramatic results I understand but I am only on for a short period of time and have not yet reached the targeted dose.
I tend to be sensitive to medications given severe dysautonomia which is why I am doing a slow titration.
I’d check out the thread on ergothioneine if I were in your situation, with the caveat that you may need to look at some genes and/or do some post-supplementation testing for TMAO to help ensure it’s safe to take long-term.
