Gotcha. When you do test, can you please share them? I’m really curious.
I definitely will share the numbers.
You may want to consider just keeping the ezetimibe as most side effects come from the statins IMHO.
I may try that. Want to have at least a two week break to see if my joints recover.
Maybe try bempedoic acid + ezetimibe next time you jump on lipid medication? Might have less side effects.
Bempedoic acid is not a choice for me bc of my transplanted kidney. It increases uric acid in some ppl.
Oh right. Well I do hear ezetimibe is good. Good luck.
Tested my lipids today after a long break from Atorvastatin (affected joints) with only Ezetimibe 10 mg/daily. Joint pain was completely resolved, but cholesterol jumped up.
Total cholesterol in Sep was 181, now - 235. HDL was 100, now - 95. LDL was 69, now 123. Triglycerides were 60, now -70. Non HDL was 81, now - 140. Apo B was not measured. Dilemma: restart Atorvastatin in a smaller dose or increase Ezetimibe? Hate joints pain.
Would you consider trying Pitavastatin? It seems to have significantly lower side effects. If you can get the 4mg dose that’s about equivalent to 20mg Atoravastatin.
I would try Bempedoic Acid. It’s as effective as a statin without the side effects. I don’t think you can bump up the Ezetimibe dosage. I’ve never heard of anyone doing that. I’m not sure what the side effects or beneficial effects would be.
I, too, am affected by statins, but I use 5 mg of Atorvastatin and I don’t feel any side effects at that dose. Alternatively, you could try a different statin. For me, Rosuvastatin was heinous. I felt like I was 90 because my muscles were so weak. Atorvastatin was better but still caused some fatigue. Then I dropped it down to 5 mg, and I can’t notice any side effects… although I may have a small bit of muscle fatigue. It’s hard to tell.
My ApoB crept up to 57 from 48, and my calculated LDL is 64. HDL is 58, and total cholesterol is 138. Triglycerides are 85. I think I’m most worried about my triglycerides.
Cannot take Bempedoic bc of kidney transplant. Can try 5 mg Atorvastatin.
Thanks. Will talk to my doc about it in November at next appointment.
Wow, thanks for remembering and updating the post months later! That’s a shame about the joint pain and that 123 LDL-C.
I’ve never really heard of anybody using more than 10mg Ezetimibe. I think it has a ceiling to the effect.
If you look at the UK guidelines, BA would be next. You can’t use it, so the next would be to use a PCSK9i

I use a PCSK9i on an off-label once per month dosing.
