Zinc acetate lozenges (34mgs,10mg of ionic zinc), must be acetate though. Only effective if taken within the first few hours of symptoms. Suck one slowly every 3-4 hours for first 24 hours.
Only drawback is it kills your sense of taste, but a small price to pay.
I’ve found it very effective if taken early enough.
Yes, I’ve listed that in the first post. I keep a stock of the Life Extension zinc acetate lozenges on hand.
I’ve seen Dr. Shens as one of the recommended ones. I had a source for Chinese herbs, a physician from China, but she wasn’t licensed for medicine in US, but was for acupuncture and well versed in herbal medicine. Unfortunately, she retired.
I have a similar history with a Taiwanese acupuncturist… I have much respect for 5 element acupuncture and herbalism.
Thanks for the info @Phillipe !
I always take an iodine-based sore throat gargle with me and gargle 2x day if I ever feel a tickle. Usually stops it in its tracks. In Australia we have the Betadine and Difflam brands which I’ve found equivalent but the Difflam has a slightly better taste. Interestingly I haven’t found these on my travels so I’m wondering if they are an Aussie thing.
Hi there, I am also taking Tremella, super underutilized mushroom. Real Mushroom’s supplier is Nammex and usually I’m able to find a bulk supplier providing Nammex mushrooms cheaper, my go to usually is Ginseng and More but they don’t stock tremella.
Recently found out that a place called Spirit of Health stocks bulk mushroom powders sourced from Nammex (you can email them to confirm) as well as Tremella. Another tip to bring the price down is if you can find a Fullscript sign up online that will bring the price of supplements down by 30%-25%.
Hope this helps as another tremella fan, sorry if this is not allowed - I have no affiliation with Spirit of Health or fullscript. Just fed up by Real Mushrooms somewhat overcharging!!
High dose vitamin c, high dose thiamine, zinc lozenges (I like source wellness for the nice flavor and having zinc ascorbate a 2 in one).
Interesting ones I don’t see mentioned all the time: Agarikon mushroom was found to have insane antiviral activity. Can be hard to find a decent source and I don’t trust Paul Stamet’s company due to using mycellium only, and is an endangered mushroom. I felt amazing on Andrographis but I lost my sense of taste on it (a rare side effect reported around, unfortunately) so that’s why I don’t take it anymore.
I know some people use Skullcap as well as an antiviral. I used that after I got Covid just in case, the Nootropics Depot brand, which I trust. Didn’t notice any bad effects but no positive effects - didn’t get long covid though!
I know some people swear by the Xylitol nose sprays but I was reading something recently that cast doubt on this method.
Thanks a lot! Great tip! Will definitely check it out. Tremella works wonderfully for my skin. I’m sure it has other benefits but it’s easy to see skin improvements. My pores were small before, but now they are completely gone.
How much Tremella do you take? I’m using the Real Mushrooms brand currently and take 1000 mg every other day. Been using for about 2 months.
I take it 1000 mg every day.
I’m also taking 1000mg.
I just ran out of the RealMushrooms bottle I got to try and I’m going to take some time off before starting again to see the full effects. It’s unclear if it helped skin but some supplements you only see when you stop.
I also have EDS and joint pain, and often I can only tell if supplements helped this once I stop them. Figure I need all the help I can get collagen wise.
Sorry if derailing maybe we should start a new tremella thread. It’s so underrated!
