After understanding the mechanism and the risks of a constant restriction, there is no second best

I use the saga ones. There are other brands but you need to be sure they measure the arterial pressure so that they only do a veinous occlusion.

They seem very interesting - how is the app?

Does the Bluetooth paring work seamlessly?

Relatively basic. You first calibrate the arterial pressure (like a blood pressure monitor) then you indicate the percentage of that pressure you want. Typically 80% for legs and 40% for arms. Then you can inflate/deflate them and increase/decrease the pressure.

Yes. That works well.

I used them with the Moxy muscle oxygen sensor and it’s impressive. The oxygen in the muscle goes much lower. For instance 19% vs 34% for squats. It even goes down to 0% for reverse nordic curls.
That’s one of the mechanisms that trigger adaptations.
That can also transform a walk or a slow jog into a sprint from the muscle oxygen point of view.

I use SmartCuffs 4.0 version. I’ve been happy with them. User friendly via app and limb occlusion pressure is auto-calibrated and adjustable. BFR training is a special type of pain doing the traditional 30-15-15-15 sets with 30’ rest. I have been using it to rehab my torn quad tendon. So far has been working well. Haven’t trialed it for non-injured muscles.

I just picked up a pair of SmarCuffs (3.0 Version) from Craigslist for $200 for the full legs / arms band set (two pairs of cuffs, for full body workout.

Trying to become more time efficient with my workouts. Theoretically this will make my arms and leg workouts more efficient / shorter time wise, and allow me to focus more time on other areas like core and cardio.

Will report back.

@Shady any update on how effective it’s been over the months you’ve used it?

I’m having good success with my right quad. Making progress each workout. I haven’t used the cuffs on any other limb. Only my leg with the torn quad tendon. At most I do 2 of the quad sets 30-15-15-15 on leg extension after my heavy slow tendon rehab work on leg press. Let me know what you think of the occlusion workouts!
