We have been reading that flu and shingles vaccine can help prevent Alzheimers. But how/why?
My Promethease report shows protective gene variants except for one major bad variant on the TAP2 gene, specifically RS241448 where I am homozygous for the risk allele (C:C). The explanation is that this makes one more susceptible to HIV. So, can I conclude that the vaccine is going to be especially protective if you have this particular genetic risk? Is it that the mechanism of the vaccine is that it somehow counterbalances the proclivity to become infected with a virus that can lead to AD?
Alzheimers has been top of the ladder in my order of worries. But after looking at all the evidence I can find, I am now re-ordering my worries. Sarcopenia, osteoporosis, frailty are now at the top – by a long lead. I do not see much new in the way of prevention or amelioration. Same old messages: impact, strength /resistance, protein, balance and range of motion. And estrogen.
