I am with Kaiser and my physicians would not prescribe an SGLT inhibitor after I provided this compelling article to them: \[2026\] SGLT Inhibitors as Geroprotectors for Age-Related Disease Prevention I produced two documents that compile all of the current evidence for SGLT inhibitors as effective Geropertective agents. I believe this class of drugs provides the best globlal interventional opport…

I am preparing to start an off-label protocol using the SGLT-2 inhibitor empagliflozin (Jardiance) for its metabolic optimization and downstream metabolic pathways. Given the compelling NIA Interventions Testing Program (ITP) data on SGLT-2 inhibitors and their systemic effects on nutrient sensing, I am eager to integrate this into my regimen. However, I want to calibrate my approach using real-w…

Canagliflozin is an FDA approved SGLT2 inhibitor medication typically used for diabetes treatment (lowering blood glucose spikes) but it has also been proven effective in healthy life extension in the National Institute on Aging’s Intervention Testing Program (ITP) which tests different anti-aging compounds in three simultaneous double blind clinical trials on mice lifespan. I started using can…

## [Opinion: Switch from metformin to canagliflozin](https://www.rapamycin.news/t/opinion-switch-from-metformin-to-canagliflozin/8138)

I used to be a proponent of rapamycin + metformin combination, since AMPK activation + mTORC1 intuitively makes sense, especially seeing the ITP results from 2016. It is important to note, though, that metformin had no significant effect itself on lifespan here, but there seemed to be an additive effect when combined with rapamycin (though that was referenced against historical data). Research o…
